Seen on a Playground

A big kid on a playground is bullying a smaller child. He pushes the child to the ground and demands the child’s prized baseball cap. The bully’s supporters stand behind him cheering.

Another big kid sees this and knows it is wrong. He walks up to the bully and tells him to stop. The bully says, “Who’s going to stop me?” His supporters jeer.

The other big kid looks the bully in the eye and says, “I am.” The bully’s supporters fall silent.

The bully looks nervous but says, “You and what army?” The other kid says, “I don’t need an army and you don’t have one.” The bully notices that his former supporters are backing away.

The other kid says, “Help him up.” The bully hesitates for a moment, then bends down and helps the child. Onlookers cheer as the bully backs away, turns, and departs humiliated.

The bully is Russia. The smaller child is Ukraine. The onlookers are the people of Ukraine, the NATO nations, Western Europe, the People of the United States, and freedom loving people anywhere else in the world.

President-elect Trump could be either the one standing up to the bully … or one of the bully’s cringing supporters. He could tell Putin to get out of Ukraine … or encourage Zelensky to give up pieces of his country. The President-elect can be either a hero or a lackey. It’s his choice.
