This article is a major deviation from my usual offerings. It has no off-page links, no footnotes, and most of the content is the work of a well-known cable news journalist.
On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, Lawrence O’Donnell, the host of “The Last Word” on MSNBC, asked the question, “If Donald Trump gets dementia, how would we know?” I’ve wondered that myself. Lawrence addressed the question much better than I ever could.

I have one additional example to add to the ones that Lawrence presented. It’s an extract from an article I posted in July of 2019.
As part of his July 4, 2019 speech at the Lincoln Memorial, President Trump provided his listeners with a brief synopsis of the Revolutionary War that freed the Colonies … that would become the United States of America … from British Rule.

There you have it. Is President Trump sliding into dementia like his father did? Does he choose to be ignorant and believe that most of us share his preference? Is he one of the most stupid men to ever lead this or any other country?
I believe it’s all three. He lacks curiosity because he believes that he knows more than anybody else about everything worth knowing. That leaves him ignorant about most of the subjects that he needs to do his job as President. That attitude is just plain stupid. At the same time, his words and actions show that he’s already missing some of his marbles and is rapidly losing more of them.
While I do believe he exhibits signs of dementia, I also know that he has always, even as a child, been an egomaniac who believed that his own needs and wants superseded all others, that nobody matters as much as himself. Neither of the videos showed up here, Terry … ???

His niece, Mary Trump, who has a PhD in clinical psychology, says that he’s a narcissistic sociopath. The added danger of oncoming dementia is that he is much more prone to being manipulated by those around him … like Stephen Miller, the architect of the most heinous anti-immigrant policies and Peter Navarro, the “economist” who supports his absurd ideas about how tariffs work.

Hello there. Trump is vile and immoral. He incited a mob to attack Congress. Yet, the citizens of the USA voted him back into power in November 2024. That tells me all I need to know about huge numbers of my fellow citizens.
Take care.

I didn’t mean to imply that Trump isn’t vile and immoral. I just wanted to point out that he’s losing his marbles with increasing speed.
As to our fellow citizens who voted for him, he only beat Vice President Harris by a bit more than 1% in the popular vote … and more eligible voters didn’t vote than voted for either candidate. The problem is the Electoral College (an unfortunate compromise that was necessary to form the country in the 18th Century) and voter apathy.
